Artist Statement
I feel at peace sitting in front of my easel with a paintbrush in hand. My thoughts are focused, and I am able to hold the outside world at bay. At the easel, statements must be made, truths must be uncovered and ideas must be created.
I constantly re-evaluate my life through my paintings. All that I learn, or hear, or discover weaves its way into my work and becomes the fabric of symbolism and irony. The paintings become a vehicle that takes me through a journey of self-analysis, the discoveries of which I share with the viewer in hopes that my travels will somehow relate to theirs.
This similarity leads to a connection between the artist and the art lover that rises above firne and distance. This is my goal for my work and my life. This is why I paint.
